Violin lessons in Nijmegen
The violin is a special instrument. Playing it is a kind of journey of discovery; you can conjure up all kinds of sounds from it. Warm, soft, mysterious, powerful, etc. After taking lessons for a while, you can also use it to make very different types of music. Think of beautiful classical music, but also gypsy songs and, for example, Irish and Swedish folk music and jazz are really very suitable for the violin.
Playing together is great fun, whether in a large orchestra or a small ensemble. And… a violin is very easy to take with you; a violin case even fits on your back!
Mathilde Krabbe studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Davina van Wely. She completed her studies with a solo performance diploma (performing musician). She then obtained a chamber music qualification with Mark Lubotsky and Herman Krebbers. This was followed by many music courses at home and abroad.
For 14 years, she worked as first violinist in the Dutch Ballet Orchestra. She has long been intensively involved in 20th-century music, including as a member of the ASKO ensemble and as a violin-piano duo with Liesbeth Spits. For several years now, she has been a member of the Weidler Quartet.
Mathilde has been teaching since she was young, and for the last 20 years, this has been her main focus. She sees her lessons as an exciting journey of discovery with lots of room for growth. Besides the joy of making music, this includes learning to work together and listen carefully, learning to perform, and developing perseverance through practice.
All lessons are given at the teacher’s home in Nijmegen.
