Floris Kappeyne, a pupil of piano teacher Alfred Snel, has won the Princess Christina Jazz Competition 2012.
Floris Kappeyne, a student of piano teacher Alfred Snel, has won the 2012 Princess Christina Jazz Competition. Floris specifically sought out Alfred Snel because he wanted to improve his technique and, with it, his tone. This has paid off and led to him winning this wonderful prize. The jury report contained some very nice comments: ‘he is a wizard on the keys’, ‘he doesn’t play music, he breathes it’.
Floris played with his trio at this competition. You can listen to both pieces again via the link. The first number is a composition of his own, the other is by Wayne Shorter.
